How does solar work? It's actually quite simple. 

Step #1 - The Panels

As the sun shines on your solar panels, they generate Direct Current (DC) power. Think of your panels like a battery that generates power when activated by light.

Step #2 - Optimization and Inversion

Small units called micro inverters go under each panel. Their first function is to make sure that every panel is producing at peak efficiency.

In addition to improving performance, micro inverters change the DC power produced by the panels into an Alternating Current (AC) that household appliances and machinery can use. 

Step #3 - Integration Into Your Home

Your solar system will be connected directly into your home's existing electrical meter. Depending on where you live, some additional units will need to be mounted next to your meter, but little to no modification to the home is required. 

Once connected, your solar system will automatically kick in and begin delivering energy straight to your home. 

Step #4 - Integration Into The Grid

Almost all residential solar systems use Net Metering. The city grid functions like a battery that stores any excess power that your solar system makes. At night time, you consume that excess power using the "credit" that you've built during the day.

Performance Monitoring

With modern technology, we have advanced monitoring capabilities to make sure your panels are functioning at peak performance. If there are any issues, we'll know right away. 

These systems are accessible to you as well! Depending on what system was used for your home, you'll get system-wide monitoring or panel-level monitoring capabilities.
